Niflheim can be described as �the realm of death� and it comes from Germanic mythology. In Wouter Lenaerts�s most recent work, which he wrote for the Flemish Brass Band Orchestra on the occasion of the World Music Competition in Kerkrade, we are taken on a musical journey to the end of time, the Apocalypse, which is caused by a devastating nuclear disaster with only one survivor. The challenging composition is full of historical symbolism and thematic elements.
