Tex Beneke was a leading sideman (tenor sax & vocal) with the Glenn Miller Orchestra from 1938 until it was disbanded in 1942 when Miller joined the US military. After the War and with Glenn Miller deceased, Beneke took over the Glenn Miller band in 1946, and it was more popular than ever.
Tex Beneke kept most of Miller?s sidemen, but dropped the Army Air Force arrangements which Miller had used. Beneke began commissioning new compositions and arrangements, especially by Norman Leyden. Technically, then, the music on this CD is by the Glenn Miller Orchestra under the leadership of Tex Beneke.
