One of the most famous pianists in Finland, as well as being renowned internationally, Iiro Rantala  has played with the band 'Trio Töykeät' and composed many songs as a solo musician. He has won numerous awards, including the prestigious German ECHO Jazz award in 2012 for 'Best International Pianist'. This Piano Songbook  features selections from three of the best albums he has worked on: 'Anyone With A Heart', with the 'Iiro Rantala String Trio'; and his solo compositions 'Lost Heroes' and 'My History Of Jazz'.  Rantala  is known for his playing style that is at once playful then serious. Many fans see his style as combining a virtuosic technical proficiency with a sense of humour, making him a favourite within the jazz Piano world. His two solo albums are both a musical exposition of  Rantala 's talent and an exploration of his inspirations and personal view of the history of jazz.
