Eight Pieces are written for Violin in the third position with Piano accompaniment. David Stone is a contemporary British composer and violinist, best known known for his works for student musicians and ensembles such as his String Quartets . He was a master at Charterhouse at one time, a producer at the BBC and Music Director of the Godalming Operatic Society, then Director of the School of Music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He began to compose works for young musicians when he found a dearth of suitable teaching material for his own students.
