Frédéric Devreese is one of the most renowned composers in Belgium�s rich musical tapestry. As a tribute, Beriato Music is making a CD box containing his most important orchestral pieces that have been adapted for wind bands. �Passage� is one of his most notable pieces from this collection. The unstoppable bass melody, the effervescent phrasing and the continuous rhythms make this powerful piece a real experience!Here the french word passage refers to passage-work, defined by the dictionary Le Grand Larousse as a rapid sequence of notes, improvised or written, within a musical phrase, deigned to embellish the melody or stimulate the performer�svirtuosity.Passage proposes a theme followed by variations, the final being the last variation. Rhythm, virtuosity and mixtures of tone colours play an important part and ostinato tempi are used throughout.
