This short work for clarinet and piano began as an unaccompanied melody, which Bernstein copied from the wall of his periodontist friend Dr. Ron Odrich and later dished-up as a jazz clarinet melody for his friend, who alsohappened to be a jazz clarinettist. Odrich, and his composer partner Larry Fallon, then used the tune as a basis for a very stylish work for clarinet and piano.
