French conductor and composer, Albert Beaucamp (1921-1967) first studied Organ with his father, and then with Marcel Dupré. His compositional catalogue is relatively small, however, Fantaisie for Flute and Piano remains prominent in the advanced flautist's repertoire. Beaucamp is best remembered for founding the Rouen Conservatory and organising and conducting many concerts. Published in 1954, Fantaisie reflects typical French romantic-modern characteristics, including flourishing semiquaver passages, chromaticism and much dynamic contrast. For all advanced flautists seeking alternative repertoire, Beaucamp 's Fantaisie is a delightful addition to the repertoire.
