The Gravity of Kindness is Howard Goodall’s stunning setting of Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem Kindness, for SATB and piano with optional soprano solo. It was composed for the highly regarded Addison Singers, in memory of theirlong-standing member Cathy Bereznicki. Kindness is framed by two lullabies: the Mexican Arrorró mi niño and the well-known Coventry Carol, underpinned by the universal themes of unconditional love and the hope that kindnessbrings. The contemporary, reflective and uplifting style of the music makes this a versatile work: whilst ideal for Christmas concerts, it is equally suitable for performance at any time of the year.
