Each volume contains a wealth of material to help the choral director assemble a concert programme - all from one volume. The anthology draws on the vast Boosey and Hawkes archive and also includes many specially-composed or newly-arranged pieces.Calmo has been collated and edited by Jeremy Backhouse, conductor of the Vasari Singers, and brings together for the first time some of the most exquisite and beautiful music of our time. The pieces drawn together for this collection have something of the spiritual or mystical about them. Here is music with atmosphere, music that willcalm.It is music that caters for all tastes and abilities, offering plenty of balance and variety. Pieces range form very short and simple to more substantial and challenging. Some texts are overtly religoius, other more genreally spiritual in tone. There is equal representation for accompanied pieces - using piano, organ or even handbells - and a capella items.
