Julekveldsvisa ("The Christmas Eve Song") is one of the best loved Christmas tunes in Norway. Although the melody was composed by Arnljot Høyland (himself a professor of mathematical statistics), it is most strongly connected to it’s lyricist Alf Prøysen – one of Norways most famous cultural personalities. With a minimum of rhythmic information and a tonal range of under an octave, this arrangement presents an easy way to introduce young musicians to 6/8-time.
