While Ubi Caritas II functions as an independent work, it is also intended to be used in combination with the other piece, for example as prelude/postlude‘bookends’, perhaps yielding a sense of unity and conclusion to the concert or recording. In those cases, I would usually recommend ending with Ubi Caritas II.”
