Hall Johnson (1888 – 1970) was an African-American composer, arranger, and choral director who helped to preserve the Negro Spiritual in the form it took during the era of slavery, and elevated it into a popular art form that could gain acceptance by the musical establishment. Ain’t Got Time To Die was composed by Johnson in 1956. It is a joyful, upbeat spiritual, guaranteed to brighten up anyone’s day. It has been arranged for SATB by John Purifoy .
